Community CPR Day

New Hartford Volunteer Ambulance is partnering with Campion Ambulance and the Licia and Mason Bekkley Library to offer a day of hands-only CPR training. It only takes 15 minutes to learn to save a life. Early CPR by a family member or a bystander can quadruple survival rates. At New Hartford day we trained 313 people in Hands-Only CPR. Let's get more people trained and save more lives.

2016 Calls

In 2016 NHVA responded to 872 calls for service. This is a 62 call increase compared to last calendar year.

Highlights include 62 second crew calls, 4 third crew calls, and 4 first responder calls*. Our most frequent types of calls were motor vehicle accident (138), sick person (126), and fall victim (115). We used our contract with the Winsted regional paramedic 238 times. Care of 4 patients was transferred to an air ambulance.

2016 Open House

NHVA has announced the date and time of our Open House for this summer. On Saturday July 23rd from 10a.m. to 2p.m., our station and ambulances will be open to the public for tours and demonstrations. Our talented CPR instructors will be teaching hands only CPR at no cost to anyone who is interested that day. Canton Parade 2016

Congratulations to the crew of New Hartford Ambulance that took NH-1 to the Canton Parade on Saturday night. A special thank you to the volunteers that took time out of their busy schedules to wash the ambulance in the afternoon and then represent us by winning best in shirts at the parade.

Girl Scout Training

This week New Hartford Ambulance volunteers were invited to a local Girl Scout troop to help them earn their first aid badge. The Girl Scouts were taught how to use 911, made personal first aid kits, and were given a tour of one of our ambulances. In return, the troop gave a very special donation to the members who came to teach and the New Hartford duty crew. Additional trainings can be scheduled by calling the station at 860-379-6060.

2015 Call Volume

The statistics for New Hartford ambulance call volume are in for calendar year 2015. Highlights include 73 second crew calls and 15 third crew calls, 8 patients transported by helicopter, and 214 paramedic transports.

Veterans Day

On this Veterans Day, NHVA thanks all who have served, including our members who are veterans.

Treasurer

Congratulations to Christopher Sochacki who will be taking over as treasurer! We wish Guy Hayes well in his retirement and thank him for his numerous years of service to the community.

CPR Challenge 2015

We challenged ourselves to train 300 people in hands-only CPR during New Hartford Day. With 20 minutes left in the day we had trained 270 people. A mad push got us over the top and our total count was 313 people trained in hands-only CPR by the end of the day. Special thanks to all our Explorers who worked tirelessly all day.

Our Friends In Canton

This week NH-2 spent some time visiting our neighbors in Canton. While both of their ambulances had to go out of service temporarily, we were able to loan them one of our three. This helps everyone so NHVA can still staff a crew in town and the volunteers in Canton are able to respond in their town. This is just another way we serve our community.
